Location, comfort, warmth, atmosphere, practicality, space, all without parallel. We walked in and felt immediately relaxed and at home.

Broad How is one of the most spacious houses I have ever stayed in. We instantly felt at home. The kitchen was fitted out beautifully and actually had sufficient fridge/freezer space for 2 families

We have been taking similar extended family holidays for 25 years, and the quality and quantity of kitchen equipment, and children’s toys, were the best we have encountered

What a brilliant house in a fantastic setting. So well equipped. Magnificent kitchen. Thank you. We would thoroughly recommend to others

Love the house – would love to come back. An extremely comfortable, warm house to come back to after a day on the fells. Thank you.

Great place for family gatherings - there were 12 of us from various parts of the UK - but with plenty of space to get away from one another when needed! Plenty of good hill walks straight from the front door

Having searched widely to find a property that could accommodate our size of party with pets we were exceedingly pleased with our choice. We are currently unable to find another that matches it and seem likely to return next year!

The property and situation were both stunning. It is difficult to describe accurately the magical situation in which the atmospheric period house stood. We were all completely taken aback by the stunning scenery - chilly walks, a drink at the local pub and home to the warm embrace of the house we all fell in love with. None of us envisaged such a wonderful and enchanting weekend

The accommodation is extremely spacious and well appointed In particular, the large kitchen is well suited to a group booking. The house is well located in relation to the local pub and is a splendid base for walking

The house was beautiful, and very well equipped. Could not have asked for a more lovely setting

A warm welcome from Mrs Bell - spotless house, well-equipped & perfect for our needs - views to die for - good local amenities & plenty to do straight from the house

The location of the property is fantastic -  both scenery and access to extensive walking. The property is perfect for our needs with lots of space, facilities and kitchen/eating area

Thanks for the opportunity to enjoy this lovely house. Kitchen table big enough to solve any family problems in safety! Fascinating library of books. Constant accompaniment of birdsong in the gardens. Views from every window

The house lends itself to socialising, and the pages of the Visitors' Book are full of the fun of family get-togethers, friends' reunions and celebrations. We have had 40th, 50th & 70th birthdays, ruby and golden wedding anniversaries, a proposal and even a wedding here. But the house is big enough to allow one to escape the merriment sometimes, and people also write appreciatively about: the space; the peace and calm; rest, relaxation and recharging.

Over the years  Broad How has housed walkers (of course), study groups, writers, team-building groups, theatre groups and musicians rehearsing. . . . . .Each different group writes about how well the house suits their needs:

"You've accommodated a string octet this weekend - makes a fine conservatoire (inspiring views!) "
